City based filmmaker bags award at Greece


Bhubaneswar: Amartya Bhattacharya a city based software professional and passionate filmmaker known for making films with shoestring budget has brought laurels for city and state, by grabbing an international award for his national award winning short film Benaras- The unexplored attachment.

The 8- minute long shorts won the best film award at 7th International Short Tourism Film Festival held at Amorgos in Greece. Amartya is the director, script writer, cinematographer and editor of this short flick.

The short film depicts a beautiful relationship between a stranger and the holy city of Benaras that has been personified so creatively.

The film had got national film award earlier this year for its great cinematography through which one can visualize the entire Benaras within a span of 8 minutes and to add to the aesthetic aspect of the film it has a beautiful conversation between the stranger and the city that flows like a voice over and the film moves accordingly.

The film is being screened at another film festival at New Jersey in USA. Besides it will also be screened at many other film festivals across the globe.
