CISF seize 3 kg gold, detain one at Airport

Bhubaneswar: CISF personnel on Tuesday caught a goldsmith carrying gold worth of Rs 90 lakh atBiju Patnaik International Airport here.

According to information, a Delhi based goldsmith identified to be Bhimraj Dewasi was caught by CISF officers while carrying gold weighing about 3 kg at the airport.  The officers seized the gold and handed it over to Income Tax officials.

Sources said, the goldsmith had brought the gold to Cuttack based Epari Sadashiv Jewellery. Meanwhile, the IT sleuths have detained the person and are interrogating him over the case.

It is noteworthy that possessing gold more than a certain pre-fixed amount will result in stringent actions. The issue is more highlighting because of the fact that post demonetisation people have been busy in converting the cash to more easily convertible and less accountable gold jewellery.
