Washington: The Trump administration has made it clear that the CIA did not blame Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for journalist Jamal Khashoggi’s murder.
Khashoggi was murdered on October 2 in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.
Observers say the retraction by the Trump administration on the issue has created a lot of confusion relating to the alleged murder of Khashoggi.
Earlier this week, Trump had released a statement saying that the crown prince might have the knowledge on the matter.
The US media, quoting sources said there was no evidence that the crown prince is directly involved in the murder. The officials, however, believed that the killing would not have happened without his endorsement.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia described the claim as false and fabricated. It insisted that the crown prince knew nothing about plans.
