Sao Paulo: A gunman sprayed bullets and killed four people at a church in Brazil before killing himself, media reports said.
The incident took place at the Campinas Cathedral in Sao Paulo state. The midday mass was in progress when the gory incident took place, a spokesman for the local fire department said.
The assailant was armed with two weapons and fired at least 20 times before committing suicide in front of the altar, media reports said.
The motive behind the mass shooting was not immediately known, authorities said.
Surveillance cameras showed the man entered the church like any other worshipper and sat in the back for a few minutes before getting up and spraying bullets.
The injured were taken to hospitals, reports said.
