New Delhi: Chinese envoy Luo Zhaohui said that the issue of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar will be resolved soon, according to media reports.
This response comes days after China blocked an attempt at the United Nations to declare JeM chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist.
This blocking by China was done for the fourth time. It put a “technical hold” on the issue.
News agencies quoting Luo said :”We understand India’s concern and the issue of Masood Azhar’s listing in UN as a global terrorist will be resolved.”
According to reports , the latest response of the Chinese has come after the US, UK and France, other members of the UNSC, were learnt to be preparing to move a resolution seeking a vote on the issue.
The vote would be preceded by an open debate where China could be asked directly to explain its reasons behind the blocking of the terror chief.
A US diplomat at UN had earlier said that a “compromise” was being worked upon with China on this issue.
He added that a stern warning was given to China that they will be forced to use other measures if the Chinese side does not relent on this score.
