China Open 2018: PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth enter quarters
Beijing: Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth defeated their respective opponents in the pre-quarter match and entered into the quarter-finals at the USD 1 million of China Open 2018 on Thursday.
Third seeded Sindhu defeated Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan with 21-23, 21-13,21-18 scoreline . While the seventh seeded Srikanth with 21-12, 15-21, 24-22 scoreline won the match against Thailand’s Suppanyu Avihingsanon.
Sindhu will face the winner of pre-quarter match between South Korea’s Sung Ji Hyun and Chen Yufei of China in the quarter-finals.
On the other hand, India’s campaign ended in the doubles and mixed doubles events after Ashwini Ponnappa and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy went down to 14-21, 11-21 against top seeds Siwei Zheng and Huang Yaqiong of China in the 16th round.
Similarly, Sikki Reddy and Pranav Jerry Chopra also lost with 16-21 10-21 scoreline to sixth seeds Christinna Pedersen and Mathias Christiansen of Denmark .
