Rourkela: At least 11 minors including nine girls were rescued by Child Helpline and GRP from a train at Rourkela Railway station.
According to sources, the Government Railway Police and Child Helpline officials rescued the minors from Howrah-Mumbai Gitanjali express. Officials have also detained two middlemen for allegedly trafficking the underage children.
Following the rescue operation, the minors were shifted to Short Stay Homes, sources said.
The victims were reportedly being trafficked from Bihar’s Katihar area to Mumbai, informed GRP personnel. It is suspected that a big racket is behind the child trafficking and investigations are on the trace the mastermind, sources in the police said.
