Car-tipper head on collision kills 3 KV students in Koraput


Koraput: In a heart-wrenching incident, three Class 10 students were killed and one critically injured after the car they were travelling in collided head on with a sand-laden tipper near Coffee Board on NH-26 on Tuesday.

The deceased students have been identified as Rajib Patra, Niharika Bhanja and S Jayashri. The injured was identified as Ruben Patra. Reportedly, all of them were students of Koraput Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV).

According to reports, the road mishap took place when the car in which the four students were travelling collided head on with the tipper. The students were returning home after getting farewell from the school yesterday afternoon. The school authorities had conducted a function to bid farewell to the Class 10 students as they will leave the school after appearing their board exam which is slated to begin from March 5.

While Rajib Patra who was driving the car died on the spot, Niharika Bhanja and S Jayashri died while undergoing treatment at Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College & Hospital (SLNMCH) in Koraput. Ruben Patra has been shifted to Visakhapatnam as his condition deteriorated.
