Bhubaneswar: Abhijit Iyer Mitra again deposed before the House Committee of Odisha Assembly on Saturday and submitted an affidavit over alleged breach of privilege of the lawmakers of the state.
Iyer had appeared before the House panel yesterday where he failed to submit the affidavit and sought time for the same.
Considering Iyer’s plea seeking time, the House panel led by Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra had allowed him to submit the affidavit today.
However, the details of the affidavit submitted by Iyer today are yet to be known.
When asked about the further course of action House Committee chairman Mishra said, “The panel will review Abhijit Iyer Mitra’s statements and affidavit. If required, he will be asked to depose again.” The report in this regard will be submitted before the next session of the Odisha Assembly, he added.
Iyer is currently lodged in Jharpada jail in connection with his alleged derogatory remarks against culture of Odisha, its lawmakers and Konark Sun Temple.
