Body of newborn found near rly tracks in Titlagarh; ‘child sacrifice’ suspected

Bolangir: In yet another incident of child sacrifice, the body of a newborn was found lying near railway track near Titlagarh Railway Station in Bolangir district.

According to reports, some children of the locality spotted the newborn’s body wrapped up in a blanket and dumped under a bridge near the railway tracks on Thursday morning.

On intimation, police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. The cops also found some articles used as part of rituals in sorcery act near the body.

Sources said incense sticks, voodoo dolls, loincloth, which all are suspected to be used for practising witchcraft, were found close to the spot from where the body was recovered. Locals suspect it to be a case of .child sacrifice’.

The newborn’s body had several injury marks but as it had started decomposing, the actual reason behind the death will be ascertained after the autopsy report arrives, the police said.

A similar incident was reported a few months ago, where a headless body of a nine-year-old missing boy was recovered from the riverbed near Sundhimunda village under Kantabanjhi police limits on Oct 16 last year. Later, the cops cracked the case and confirmed it as a human sacrifice.
