Boat capsize: Four bodies fished out from river in Malkangiri


Malkangiri: The bodies of four persons, who went missing on Monday evening after the boat ferrying them capsized, were fished out today from Barlabandh canal in Malkangiri district.

Among the four deceased, three were women and a child. However, their identities were not ascertained yet.

According to sources, seven persons were returning home from their farmland when the boat lost control and capsized in the river. While three persons managed to come back to shore, four other had gone missing.

Despite a frantic search, the bodies were untraceable. The bodies were retrieved today from a canal.

The bodies have been handed over to the family members. The administration promised to pay compensation to the bereaved families.
