BMC to recycle C&D waste

Bhubaneswar : The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC ) Commissioner, Dr. Krishan Kumar while addressing a meeting on Monday said that BMC has planned to adopt a scientific way to recycle the construction and demolition (C&D) waste.

Sources said the proposed facility will operate in public-private partnership under the Act of Construction and Demolition Waste Management Rules, 2016.As per reports, on an average the city produces around 200 metric tons of C & D waste daily which is dropped in the dumping yard at Patia and Kargil road. Ensuring reduction in demand for sand and soil has been one of the targets behind the technique adopted, Kumar further added. He said the move will be financially beneficial and will be helpful for construction, remodeling and repairing work.

BMC sources said, now the Request For Proposal (RFP) will be prepared for drawing out the partners list and the process will start within a week or two.
