Bhubaneswar: Police on Sunday arrested BJP’s Angul district president Bhagirathi Pradhan for his alleged involvement in the violence in the aftermath of the death of a man in Royal Bengal tigress ‘Sundari’ attack in Satkosia on October 21.
Pradhan was arrested from Mendhasala on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 30. Earlier, the police had arrested 29 persons in connection with this incident.
The Angul police had lodged three FIRs against 200 persons, including Pradhan, in this regard.
On October 21, a man named Trinath Sahu was allegedly mauled to death by tigress ‘Sundari’. Angry over the death of the man, the villagers of Tainsi, near Tikarpada forest range, blocked the National Highway 55 at Jarapada square and staged a demonstration by placing the body on the road and blocking the Angul-Sambalpur road.
The irate locals had also pelted stones at police and set a police van and other vehicles on fire.
