BJP workers, police clash before Amit Shah visit

Bhubaneswar: Alleging that the BJD government and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) jointly tore and removed BJP posters highlighting party president Amit Shah’s arrival on Friday for the BJP Mahasamabesh, BJP party workers clashed with police at the Power House Square today.

A day before BJP president Amit Saha ‘s Odisha visit, his posters were found torn across the capital city. Protesting this, irate BJP workers staged demonstration at Power House Square. BJP state president Basanta Panda alleged the posters were torn by BJD.

“They have not removed any of BJD posters in the city but tore off our party posters. Clearly, it is evident the ruling party is scared of our party President’s visit,” said state president Panda.

Tension ran high at the Power House Square here following clash between police and BJP workers when police asked the BJP workers staging demonstration against BJD as a protest at the Square and the workers resorted to violence by hitting BMC vehicles, leading to clash with police.
