Bhubaneswar: The ruling BJD on Wednesday lashed out at Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for allegedly indulging in political-bashing during Harekrushna Mahatab Jayanti in Bhubaneswar.
“This is extremely unfortunate that the Union Minister chose to use a social function to indulge in political-bashing forgetting the courtesy and social etiquette due to the late leader on whose memory of the function was organized,” said BJD spokesperson Pratap Keshari Deb.
Deb alleged that in the meeting Pradhan told lies that the BJD had blamed the PM for not releasing the promo song of the Hockey World Cup with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Dismissing the alleged lies told by Pradhan, the BJD spokesperson said, “In his Mann Ki Baat the PM had mentioned about the Hockey World Cup in Odisha and the CM of Odisha had called PM and thanked over the phone for highlighting Odisha and the world cup.”
He said due to the involvement of various stars and dignitaries and the fact that dates did not match, the Anthem could not be released on November 19.
Deb further said BJD has never stated anything on this and it’s unfortunate that the union minister has dragged BJD in this. “Let’s rise above party lines and make Odisha shine in the global stage by successfully hosting the World Cup,” Deb appealed.
On the issue of respecting Buxi Jagabandhu, Deb said that the state government has launched the largest water supply scheme BASUDHA with the name of Buxi Jagabandhu. “However, it is unfortunate that despite Dharmendra Pradhan being a Union Minister, the request of CM to have a train from Odisha in the name and memory of Buxi Jagabandhu has not been done,” Deb said.
“We hope Dharmendra Pradhan refrains from stooping so low in politics and indulging in false accusation, especially in a memorial meeting held in remembrance of Mahtab,” Deb added.
