BJD hits out Amit Shah for terming Odias poor
Bhubaneswar: After BJP national president Amit Shah lashed out at the State Government at his party workers’ rally here on Friday, the BJD at a press meet hit out at the saffron party.
BJD spokesperson Rajya Sabha member Pratap Keshari Deb said Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the BJP leaders are the sevaks of the people. But from the last Uttar Pradesh elections to every other forum, the BJP is terming the Odia people poor. “Don’t you think this is insult of the masters by the Sevaks, Deb questioned.
He said the BJP is claiming that the Odisha Government has not done anything for the farmers. But they should answer why the police fired on agitating farmers in the BJP-ruled States like Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Besides, they failed to implement the Swaminathan Committee report which they had promised in their election manifesto.
Besides, they are constantly parroting that there has been no development in Odisha. Then, why is the Central Government awarding the State Government departments for their performances, he questioned.
BJD MLA Arun Sahoo said, “Amit Shah despite being the national president of the BJP is using words like ‘Ukhad Ke’ and Fek Do’ which can be described as the language of Asuras (devils).
MLA Sanjay Dasburma reacting to Shah criticising Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for not knowing Odia, said the people of Odisha have reposed their trust on him and elected him so many times and they have nothing to complain about. The BJP is trying to furnish questionable information and misleading people. They are trying to hoodwink the people, he said.
