BJD govt has ruined education system in Odisha; alleges BJP
Bhubaneswar: Odisha BJP today blamed the BJD government saying it has ruined the education system in the state for last 17 years.
It alleged that the Naveen Patnaik government has failed massively in providing quality education to the students in the state and the future of poor students is dark.
At a press meet at the party’s headquarters here today, senior BJP leader Pratap Sarangi alleged that the state government has failed in providing classrooms and teachers both in primary and secondary schools across the state.
Out of a total of 34,238 primary schools in the state, 29, 944 schools do not have rooms for each class. As many as 11,744 high schools out of 17,726 do not have classrooms for each class, Sarangi claimed.
This apart, 32,553 primary schools and 12,466 high schools do not have teachers for each class, he added.
He further complained that seven percent of the schools are being run by a single teacher and there is one teacher less in 66% government primary school for 30 students.
As many as 24,446 posts of teachers under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) are still lying vacant and 11,341 posts in high schools, the party claimed.
The state government has done injustice to the teachers by categorizing them in different groups and paying them differently for the same work.
The BJP has asked the ruling party to explain the alleged poor education system to the people during its ongoing padyatra.
