Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Higher Education department on Tuesday made it mandatory for all its staff at the State Secretariat to mark their attendance in the biometric system on working days.
According to the notification issued on Tuesday, every employee has to record his/her ‘Office In’ as well as ‘Office out’ time in the recording device. Besides, employees are expected to come to office by 10 AM and remain on duty for seven-and-half hours, the notification added.
The staffs reaching office after 11 AM will be considered as ‘absent’, the notification further read.
Notwithstanding this instruction, an employee may have to work beyond 5.30 PM or beyond 7.30 hours of duty in a day if needed.
If an employee’s presence in the office is more than 4 hours but less than 7 hours and 30 minutes on a working day, a half-day leave will be deducted. Similarly, if the attendance is less than four hours, a one-day leave will be deducted.
