Bihar: Five labourers killed, several injured in boiler blast in sugar factory


Patna: In a tragic incident, at least five labourers were killed and several others critically injured when a boiler exploded at a sugar mill in Gopalganj district, Bihar in the early hours of today.

At least 100 workers were on duty at the time of the incident and the toll could mount as many workers were still trapped inside the mill.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has ordered an inquiry into the incident and announced compensation of Rs 4 lakh each to the family of victims.

Earlier in November, 46 people were killed in a similar incident at a sugar factory in Rae Bareli of neighbouring Uttar Pradesh.
