Bhadrak unrest: Admin lifts curfew for 4 hours; Crime Branch begins probe


Bhadrak: In view of the improving law and order situation, curfew has been eased for four hours in Bhadrak today. The administration has initially lifted the prohibitory orders from 8 am to 11 am or maximum till 12 am for the people to get their essential amenities. With completion of the four hours of relaxation, the restriction under the curfew will be clamped again till Monday 7 am.

After realizing a volatile situation still prevails in the curfew clamped Bhadrak, State Crime Branch has begun probe into the ‘offensive’ posts made on Hindu deities on social media that had erupted the uproar on Thursday.

The State Crime Branch has been directed to take up investigation and register case against allegedly involved posting derogatory remarks on social media. Stringent action will be taken as per law against those responsible for circulating the rumour.

Crime Branch DG BK Sharma urged people to apprise on misuse of social media relating to Bhadrak unrest.

On the other hand, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi wrote a letter to Union Home Secretary Rajiv Maharshi demanding to send in 4 companies of Rapid Action Force (RAF) for getting control over the communal tension.
