Begunia police station vandalism: Five arrested, 5 bikes seized
Begunia: Five persons have been arrested in connection with the vandalism at Begunia police station here on Wednesday, informed Khurda SP Dipti Ranjan Ray.
“The police have arrested five persons with the seizure of three motorcycles,” the Khurda SP said, adding that action will be taken against the persons involved in ransacking the police station.
Tension ran high at Begunia this morning after hundreds of irate locals barged into the police station and resorted to vandalism besides injuring sub-inspector Mahendra Sethi.
The agitators took to the streets and entered the police station demanding the arrest of Begunia MLA Prasanta Kumar Jagadev for allegedly threatening and misbehaving with Naba Kishore Swain, a former sarpanch and a local Congress leader.
The locals further alleged that despite lodging an FIR at the police station in this regard no actions have been taken by the police. They also blocked the NH-57 at Begunia, as a result, the vehicular movement came to a standstill.
