Banks to be linked with police stations through hotline in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Following steep rise in bank and ATM loot in the State, Odisha police is planning to link the banks with police stations through hotline.
Steps are being initiated to link the banks with police stations through hotline, Crime Branch Additional Director General (ADG) Santosh Upadhyay informed on Friday.
“It has been decided to inspect the security system and ATMs of the banks through hotline system every month,” said the ADG in a meeting on bank security.
Besides, more number of metal detectors and CCTV cameras will be installed to protect banks from safety and security threats, he added.
Upadhyay asked the SPs of different districts to remain alert following the rise in bank robberies in the State.
He also advised the bank officials to adhere the security rules mentioned in the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines.
Senior officials and security personnel of different banks were present on the occasion.
