Cuttack: The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Monday destroyed over 70 kg of stale food from street vendors and stalls put up at the Bali Yatra following an inspection.
The raids on the food stalls and vendors were conducted on the directions of Food Safety commissioner.
Sources said the foods from different stalls were thrown away after a proper quality check. While the annual fair is a destination of mouth-watering food, the authorities had advised the vendors to maintain hygiene.
Food Safety Officer PK Pradhan informed the media that, the officials have destroyed all the stale food items present at various stalls. Pradhan also informed that nearly three quintals of stale food from the stalls at the annual fair have been destroyed in the last three days.
The officials had earlier informed that raids are slated to be conducted daily till the 10-day fair comes to an end.
