Baby boy dies after being branded in Nuapada
Nuapada: In a shocking incident, a two-and-a-half-year-old baby boy was killed due to a branded treatment to cure his ailments in Nuapada district.
As per reports, the 30-month-old boy named Tamil, son of Lakshmichand Sabar at Karchul village under Sadar block in the district was suffering from high fever since a week following which he was taken to a woman for branded treatment.
The boy was branded by the woman after his family approached her to cure him.
As the toddler’s condition deteriorated due to the superstitious practice, the kid was admitted to District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment on Saturday evening.
The kid succumbed to his injuries at DHH on Sunday around 24-hours post the branded treatment. The disease was identified as Septicinia by the DHH doctor.
