Assistant sub-inspector caught taking bribe in Nuapada
Nuapada: Vigilance sleuths caught an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Khadiala police station in Nuapada district while accepting a bribe of Rs 4000.
The accused ASI has been identified as Bijeswar Panda. Police said that Panda had demanded a bribe of Rs 5000 from one Bhawani Shankar of Kuanrapada area, in order to settle an assault case.
Acting on the complaint, a two-member team of anti-corrupting wing conducted a raid at Panda’s residence and caught him red-handed while accepting the gratification from the complainant. The officials also seized the bribe money from his possession.
A case has been registered against the accused ASI and further investigations are on, Vigilance officials further informed.
