Aspiring constable dies during fitness test, 2 critical


Kalahandi: After the death of an aspiring police constable during physical tests in Cuttack two days ago, another aspirant died at district headquarters hospital in Kalahandi district today.

The deceased was identified as Susant Nayak of Dhangrabhata village under Biswanathpur police limits in the district.

The incident took place today afternoon at Bhawanipatna Reserve Field when Nayak fell unconscious while appearing for the physical tests. Though he was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) immediately, doctors declared him ‘dead upon arrival’.

Reportedly, two youths were hospitalised at Sambalpur today in a critical condition after they were taken ill during a physical test for constable recruitment.

It may be mentioned here that, on Friday morning, a woman candidate named Damayanti Behera from Jangira village in Keonjhar district fell unconscious during a similar examination.

Notably, on August 9, one Ramesh Pradhan of Nukhapada in Cuttack district died and two others became critical after collapsing during the 1600-meter run at OSAP ground.
