ASI panel begins inspection of Srimandir Jagamohan


Puri: The Archeological Survey of India (ASI) technical core committee team on Monday started the inspection work inside Jagamohan and Nata Mandap of Srimandir in Puri.

The experts’ panel will carry out a three-day inspection of Jagamohan and Nata Mandap after several servitors complained of water leakage following heavy rains.

During inspection it was learnt that the Jagamohan and Nata Mandap needs repair which will be carried out soon, said a source.

The experts are chalking out strategy to carry out repair works as incessant rains could hamper the work.

According to sources, some professors from IIT Chennai and Khargapur will join the ASI experts on Tuesday to expedite the inspection work.

Meanwhile, the ASI today submitted an affidavit to the Orissa High Court stating that inspection of Mausi Maa temple and Gundicha temple has been completed.

In the affidavit, the ASI has also cited that six temples located within the proximity of these temples have also been completed.
