Asha workers stage demo in city over various demands
Bhubaneswar: Hundreds of Asha workers from across the state have staged a demonstration at Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar to press for various demands.
According to sources, the stir by the Asha workers entered its second day today.
Their demands include regularisation of jobs, hike in monthly salary, inclusion in National Health Insurance Scheme and Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY).
The agitators also demanded an extension of the working-age till 65 years, Rs 1 lakh as Gratuity during the time of retirement, a sum of Rs 3 lakh as ex-gratia, if the workers die in a mishap.
While women and children healthcare services are being affected because of the agitation, the Asha workers have stated that the stir will intensify if their demands remain unfulfilled.
