Army jawan part of sting operation found dead

New Delhi: Roy Mathew (33), an Army jawan who was part of a sting operation on ‘Sahayak’ abuse in the army has been found dead on Thursday in an abandoned barrack in Deolali Cantonment of Maharastra.

Reportedly, Mathew’s deceased body was found hanging from the ceiling of a barrack while he was declared “absent without leave” by the army after he went missing from February 25.

The suicide might have been spurred by the feeling of guilt for conveying false intuition, said an Army officer.

Besides, Mathew’s family members have demanded a probe into his mysterious death and said he was very upset after the video he shared went viral on media channels.

However, the Army has lodged a complaint in the local Police station to set an investigation for finding circumstances that led to his death.
