Army jawan abducted by militants in Kashmir


Srinagar: An army jawan who was travelling in a private vehicle in south Kashmir was abducted by militants on Thursday, official sources said.

The jawan, identified as Aurangzaib, was posted in the militant stronghold of Shopian in south Kashmir.

According to sources, soldiers at an Army camp intercepted a private vehicle and asked the driver to drop the jawan in Shopian. As the vehicle approached Kalampora, militants stopped it and abducted the soldier.

Aurangzaib was posted as the personal guard of army officer Major Shukla. He was going to his native place Rajouri in Jammu on leave for Eid.

A massive search operation has been launched to trace the abducted soldier, sources said.
