Arjun Charan Samal, eminent Odia singer, passes away at 77
Bhubaneswar: Eminent Odia singer and composer Arjun Charan Samal died at a private hospital here last night following an illness. He was 77.
As per sources, Samal was admitted in a private hospital four days ago after he fell ill. He breathed his last at around 8.30 pm yesterday.
Samal was born in Chikana Brahmanigaon of Jajpur district. He had penned many famous songs and sung several hits Odia songs for the industry.
He was popular for songs like ‘Michha maya bhara ye sara dunia kehin nuhen apanara…’ from 1978 blockbuster ‘Suna Sansara’, and folk song…”Kaalia Kukura Hale……”. He had also sung devotional songs like Nilagiri and many more.
Samal was also the former President of Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi.
A pal of gloom descended in the Ollywood industry over the sad demise of Samal.
