Apple executive’s widow demands Rs 1cr compensation, CBI probe
Lukhnow: Kalpana Tiwari, wife of dead Apple employee Vivek Tiwari, on Sunday demanded Rs 1 crore compensation and a CBI probe into her husband’s death.
Tiwari died after police allegedly opened fire at him on Friday night. The Apple executive’s widow has written to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath seeking actions into her husband’s death.
According to sources, Tiwari ignored police signal while driving his SUV in Gomti Nagar of Lucknow late on Friday night, prompting a constable to open fire at him.
As the bullet pierced through Tiwari’s neck, he rammed his car against an underpass pillar. While he succumbed to the injuries, his colleague Sana Khan, who was also present in the vehicle, survived.
Following Tiwari’s death, constables Prashant Kumar and Sandeep Kumar were arrested on Saturday. Prashant was charged with murder and an FIR has been registered.
“The constable fired in self-defense believing that some criminals were inside the car as the victim tried to flee after hitting the patrol bike,” said Lukhnow SP.
“A post-mortem was ordered to determine whether Tiwari died of the bullet or injuries sustained in the accident,” the SP added.
