Mumbai: The epic action-adventure flick Thugs of Hindostan starring Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Katrina Kaif released in the theatres today.
Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and bankrolled by Aditya Chopra under the film production banner of Yash Raj Films, is reportedly the costliest Hindi film ever made.
The film is also released in IMAX and 4DX formats and is expected to bring in up to Rs 50 crore on its first day at the box office.
The film is based on Philip Meadows Taylor’s 1839 novel ‘Confessions of a Thug’ and is about a gang who brought up a serious challenge to the British Empire in India (then known as Hindustan or Hindostan) during the early 19th century.
In the film, Amitabh Bachchan is seen playing the role of Khudabaksh, a commander of the Thugs, Aamir Khan plays the role of junior thug Firangi while Fatima Sana Shaikh played the role of Zafira.
