New Delhi: The BJP chief Amit Shah on Wednesday accused Trinamool Congress (TMC) of perpetrating violence during his road show in Kolkata on Tuesday.
Shah told a press conference here that he had not escaped unhurt had central forces not been present during the road show.
Shah alleged that the bust of Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar was damaged at Vidyasagar College by TMC workers to gain sympathy.
Accusing the Election Commission of failing to control violence in the state, the BJP chief said six phases of Lok Sabha Elections have taken place in the country, but violence has not been witnessed in any other state than in West Bengal.
“The Election Commission is a mute spectator in West Bengal and history-sheeters have not been arrested before polls,” he said.
