Amicus curiae Ranjit Kumar to visit Puri on Feb 22
Puri: The Supreme Court-appointed amicus curiae, Ranjit Kumar, will arrive in Puri on February 22 on a two-day visit to oversee the reforms in the Srimandir.
As per sources, the former Solicitor General will hold a meeting with Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), the Temple Managing Committee, the Daitapati Nijog and all other stakeholders on the implementation of the reform proposals of the apex court.
After the meeting, Kumar will submit a report to the top court on February 27.
Notably, on January 9 this year, the Supreme Court appointed former Solicitor General Ranjit Kumar as new amicus curiae to monitor implementation of the proposed Jagannath Temple reforms.
In December last year, former Solicitor General of India Gopal Subramanium, who had been appointed as the Amicus Curiae by the Supreme Court, had stepped down from his post.
In a letter to the apex court Registrar, Subramanium had stated that ‘due to certain unavoidable personal circumstances’ he would not able to continue as the Amicus Curiae in the matter.
