Chandbali: There seems no end of misery for the people living in the interiors areas of the State especially expectant mothers, who have to go through utter inconvenience as ambulance fails to reach on time.
According to reports, an expectant mother had to deliver her baby on a trolley rickshaw near Routpada in Chandbali in Bhadrak district today, after ambulance failed to reach on time.
The woman’s family members called up both 102 and 108 ambulance services after she developed labour pain. But the ambulance failed to reach the house. With no options left the family immediately carried the woman in a trolley rickshaw when midway, she delivered a baby boy.
After reaching the Chandbali Community Health Centre (CHC) the doctors diagnosed both the mother and the child to be stable.
On Monday, one Radha Khila of Kutraguda village in Badadural panchayat under Khairaput block in Malkangiri was carried on a cot for ten kilometers after ambulance failed to reach the village.
Sources said, the Asha worker in the village immediately called up 102 ambulance services, but the ambulance could not reach her due to non-motorable roads in the area.
A few villagers then carried her on a cot for around ten kilometers where a 102 ambulance had been stationed. The woman was then carried to the nearby Khairaput CHC.
