Alok Verma sacked as CBI chief, appointed Fire Services DG

New Delhi: Alok Kumar Verma has been transferred from the post of CBI Director and posted as Director General, Fire Services, Civil Defence & Home Guards.

The appointment is made by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). The development came soon after the Selection Panel has recommended the transfer of Alok Verma as the CBI Chief.

Verma, IPS (AGMU:79), has been posted as Director General, Fire Services, Civil Defence & Home Guards for the residual period of his present term ending on January 31.

M. Nageshwar Rao, IPS (OD:86), Additional Director, CBI will now look after the duties of the Director, CBI till the appointment of a new Director.

As per the earlier arrangement, M. Nageshwar Rao, IPS (OD:86), Additional Director, CBI will look after the duties of the Director, CBI till the appointment of a new Director, CBI or until further orders, whichever is earlier, a statement of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions read.
