Mumbai: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who will be soon seen in a sports-drama film Gold, says he would like to make a biopic on the life of Indian sprinter Hima Das.
Attending an event on Saturday organised by Edelweiss group to support the Indian contingent for the upcoming Asian Games 2018 Akki congratulated and wished the Indian contingent for Asian Games 2018.
When asked on which Indian sports personality he would like to make a biopic as a producer, the Khiladi Kumar said: “I would like to make biopic on Hima Das as she’s a young achiever, in a sport that India’s not identified with on the international stage. She won gold in a track and field event, which is a huge achievement and should be highlighted through a movie. As Indians, we run and get on to a bus and train easily. So we have the potential to run. It’s only a matter of time and encouragement before we can make a name for ourselves in track and field events.”
“I think it was a very rare feat to achieve because somebody who comes from the interiors of India and wins a gold medal in track (running) event was really incredible,”Akshay said adding, “India has been a little bit weak when it comes to performing in track events and I feel we should encourage and support that form of sports to show the world that we have great talent when it comes to running as we daily run so fast to catch a bus or a train… so, I would love to make biopic on her life.
