8 Union Ministers meet Amit Shah amid cabinet reshuffle talk
New Delhi: Amid strong buzz around a cabinet reshuffle any day now, as many as eight Union ministers met with BJP president Amit Shah’s residence in Delhi today.
In addition to holding the defence and finance portfolios, Jaitley is also in charge of the upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections. Assisting Jaitley for the Gujarat polls are NS Tomar, N Sitharaman, J Singh and PP Chaudhary. All of them met with Shah on Thursday.
Jaitley today said he does not expect to continue holding dual charge of Finance and Defence for very long. “At least, I hope, not very long,” he replied, chuckling.
Many expect a change in the Railways Ministry after a series of accidents. For the first time after two derailments within four days, Minister Suresh Prabhu met PM Modi and indicated that he had offered to quit but was “asked to wait”.
The possibly last major reshuffle before the 2019 national election is expected before Prime Minister Narendra Modi leaves on Sunday for a Brics summit in China.
