Indonesia: Authorities in Indonesia issued a tsunami alert on Sunday after a massive earthquake rocked the popular tourist destination of Bali.
The United States Geological Survey said the magnitude 7.0 quake was reported Sunday evening from the country’s Lombok Island, located next to Bali.
According to Reuters, Indonesia’s disaster mitigation agency said the earthquake, which struck at a depth of 15km, prompted a tsunami warning.
The earthquake’s epicentre was located 27km northeast of the island’s North Lombok district.
The massive 7.0 earthquake which struck Lombok today is even more powerful than the catastrophic tremor one week ago which left 17 people dead and scores injured when a magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck the Indonesian island.
