5.5 magnitude earthquake hits Hindu Kush region

Kabul: An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter Scale rocked the Hindu Kush mountain ranges in Afghanistan early on today morning.

The epicentre of the quake was the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan. The 5.5 magnitude earthquake emerged 23 km from Jurm, Badakhshan, Afghanistan.

The jolt was felt in the Hindu Kush region today at 04:20 UTC (9:50 AM Indian Standard Time).

Notably, the Hindu Kush mountain ranges are known to be prone to earthquakes.
