In UP again, 49 children die at Farrukhabad hospital
Farrukhabad: After Gorakhpur hospital tragedy, in yet another similar case, 49 newborns reportedly lost their lives at the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) ward of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) government hospital in Farrukhabad in the last one month.
The children have died allegedly because of lack of medicine or oxygen. Following the incident, three doctors, including the Chief Medical Officer, have been charged and sacked. The district magistrate has also been removed.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s office stepped on Sunday and asked for an investigation after the deaths were reported.
Last month, 62 children died in the state-run Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College Hospital in Gorakhpur district due to alleged ‘shortage of oxygen’.
