4 killed in two separate mishaps in Odisha
Khurda/Kalahandi: At least four persons were killed in two separate road mishaps in the districts of Khurda and Kalahandi since last night.
In the first incident, two youths were killed after a car in which they were travelling skidded off a bridge at Sandhapur near Jatni on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar and plunged into a 15 feet canal last night.
The deceased were identified as Narendra Guru and his nephew Jitendra Guru of Sandhapur area. The duo was headed home after taking part in Ganesh Puja in Jatni.
Sources said some eyewitnesses informed the fire brigade about the accident. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle identified as Abhimanyu Behera, managed to come out of the water and informed that two others were trapped in the car.
However, the vehicle driver fled the spot when no one was noticing him, said a source. Later, the firemen and Jatni police fished out the bodies and sent them for post-mortem to Khurda DHH.
In another incident, two persons were killed after the bike, they were travelling by collided head-on with a speeding Mahindra Bolero near Dulukibandh Chhak on Jayapatna Road near Dharmagarh in Kalahandi district in the wee hours today.
The accident took place after the driver of the SUV lost control over the wheels and rammed the bike killing the duo on the spot.
The deceased were identified as Sai Sourabh Panda of Badakuturu village and Padmanava Rana of Bijimara village. On being informed, Dharmagarh police reached the spot and seized the bodies for post-mortem.
