3 JeM terrorist killed, 8 security personnel injured in encounter


Srinagar: Three Jaish-e-Muhammed (JeM) terrorists were killed and eight security personnel sustained injuries in an encounter in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

Among the injured, five belonged to the Central Reserve Police Force and three were policemen.

Reportedly, during a cordon and a search operation, the security forces zeroed in on a house in Kakriyal area in the district where the terrorists were hiding.

These terrorists had fired at two persons on Jammu-Srinagar Highway in Udham district on Wednesday. Later, the terrorists fled from Jhajjar Kotli area of Udham into the forest belt of which Kakriyal is a part.

The security personnel tracked them down with the help of drones and choppers to Reasi district on Thursday, said an official.

The gunfight took place at the house as the security forces, CRPF, police and Army personnel and closed in on them.

Earlier in the day, two militants were killed in an encounter with the security forces at Sopore area of Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir.
