Gurugram: Hours after the body of a seven-year-old student was recovered in a pool of blood from Ryan International School in Gurugram, three suspects have been detained.
On Friday morning, the class 2 student was found in a washroom of the school with his throat slit open. The police questioned the school’s bus drivers and staff, following which they arrested a bus conductor, a driver and a school staff member.
The victim’s father said within 15 minutes of dropping his son to the school, he was called back on an emergency.
By the time Thakur reached the hospital, his son had been declared dead. According to Thakur, his son’s throat was slit across twice.
Scared and angry parents reached the school premises to take their children back home on Friday. An agitated lot, they vandalised the school property and shattered glass cases kept in the school.
People later gathered outside the police commissioner’s office in Gurugram to protest the alleged murder. Around 500 people will march to the school to alleging inaction on part of the administration.
Gurugram Police have registered a murder case and recorded the statement of the child’s father and other family members. CCTV footage from the school has also been recovered.
Parents allege that at past parent-teacher meetings in the school, the issue of CCTV cameras not working was brought up multiple times.
An FIR has been registered against unknown persons. Ten people have been questioned in connection with the murder of the child.
