3 civilians, including a teenage girl, killed as forces fire at stone throwers


Srinagar: Three civilians, including a teenage girl, were killed in firing by the Army upon street protesters in Kulgam. About 10 protesters have been injured in these clashes.

The deceased were identified as Shakir Ahmad (22), Irshad Majid (20) and 16-year-old Andleeb – all residents of Hawoora in Kulgam.

The security forces opened fire after an Army patrol came face-to-face with protesters in Hawoora area.

Sources said the protesters hurled stones at the Army patrol, following which the Army opened fired into the mob.

The area remains tense and more protests continue in the area. Mobile internet service were suspended in Kulgam and Anantnag districts to curb rumours and more protests.

. The Kashmir valley observed a shutdown over National Investigation Agency taking over custody of Dukhtaran-e-Milat chief Asiya Andrabi during which the clash and death caused.
