Bhubaneswar: A massive fire broke out in the premises of Ananta Basudev Temple here in the wee hours today. The fire was so wild that at least 22 rooms of Roshaghara (kitchen) of the temple were reduced to ashes before the fire fighters could be able to control it.
The thatched roofs of the kitchens with paddy straw fueled the fire to spread wildly in no time and the fire engulfed the entire complex in few minutes, reports said.
According to reports, the fire erupted at around 3. 30 am. Locals spotted thick smoke billowing out from the temple premises and conducted an enquiry. By then, the fire had already spread and they informed the fire office. The fire tenders immediately rushed to the spot and swung into action.
Three fire tenders were pressed into action to bring the flame under control and after hours of effort the fire was doused.
The exact cause of the mishap is yet to be established.
Ananta Basudev Temple is a famous shrine near the Lord Lingaraj’s Bindusagar tank.
