2007 Ajmer blast case: NIA court acquits Swami Aseemanand, convicts three


New Delhi: A special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court on Wednesday acquitted former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activist Swami Aseemanand and five others in the 2007 Ajmer Dargah bomb blast case, while three people have been found guilty of killing three people and injuring 15 others.

Aseemanand has been accused of mastermind of the attack by NIA which handles terror cases. A special court has convicted three others accused in the case.

Three persons were killed and at least 15 others injured when the bomb exploded in Ajmer Dargah On October 11, 2007.

Aseemanand is an accused in several other cases of bombing including at Malegaon in Maharashtra in 2006 in which nearly 40 people were killed.

The 78-year old has been named in five major terror attacks between 2006 and 2008 in different cities.
