Puri: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has decided to run 194 special trains to Puri to tackle heavy footfall of devotees during the annual Rath Yatra (chariot festival) of Lord Jagannath.
According to sources, 194 special trains will ply to Puri while 60 special ticket counters and four ‘May I Help You’ counters will be opened during the festival. The Railways will provide the facilities.
Besides, 538 RPF and 550 GRP will also be deployed in order to tighten the security during the festivities. In order to have round-the-clock surveillance at the busy transport locations, 73 CCTV cameras will be installed at Puri railway station while Bhubaneswar and Cuttack railway stations will have 38 and 32 CCTVs respectively.
For hassle-free travel, provisions will also be made to install more automatic ticket vending machines at Railway Stations.
