Bhubaneswar: Heatwave conditions continued to grip Odisha as at least 13 places in the state recorded temperature over 40 degree Celsius.
Sambalpur emerged as hottest place as it recorded a maximum temperature of 45 degree Celsius followed by Hirakud which witnessed 44.4 degrees Celcius.
Similarly, mercury also soared in Jharsuguda (44.2), Sundergarh (41), Balangir (41.8), Bhawanipatna (40.6), Titlagarh (43.4), Malkangiri (40.2) and Sonepur (44).
The Met department said the high temperature will continue for the next four-five days.
While the people in the state are waiting for the arrival of monsoon to get rid of the scorching heatwave, India Meteorological Department (IMD) is yet to predict the exact date of its arrival.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon already hit Kerala on June 8.
